FAQ

Where is your office?

You choose the best option. I meet virtually from my home office in Chicago, Illinois.

Do you take insurance?

Although I do not accept insurance, I will provide you with a Superbill which you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. Ultimately, I found that using insurance can limit our scope of practice and the quality of care we can give you.

Here are some helpful questions you can ask when you call your insurance provider:

Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?

What is my deductible? Has it been met?

How many sessions per year does my plan cover?

What is the coverage amount per session?

How much reimbursement can I expect?

How long does it take to receive reimbursement once I’ve submitted my claim?

Is a referral from my primary physician required?

How long is a session?

Most individual sessions last 45 minutes. Couples and family therapy can last for 90 minutes. Therapy for Athletes with Mindfulness can last 90 minutes.

Also, the actual length of treatment will vary for each client and depends on several factors, such as the nature and complexity of your concerns, your goals for treatment, and consistency of attendance.

What is your cancellation policy?

Please let me know if you need to cancel at least 24 hours before your appointment. If your appointment is on a Monday, please let me know by the Friday before.

After your first cancellation within 24 hours, you will be charged for the session if you cancel within the 24 hours of your appointment. You are not required to pay for sessions that I cancel. I will alert you of my planned time off in advance.

What do I need to do to move or rebook an appointment?

Please get in touch with me to find a mutually convenient time.

How do I set up an initial appointment?

Give me a call or send an email! I offer a free 20-minute consultation, and that’s our chance to see if we are a good fit.

How quickly can I schedule my first appointment?

Usually, you can schedule within one – two weeks of our initial contact.

Do you work with Men? Couples? Adolescents?

I provide therapy services to individuals of all genders, couples, and adolescents.

I help couples navigate relationship challenges and improve communication and connection.

Additionally, I provide therapy services specifically tailored to adolescents’ unique needs and developmental stages, providing a safe and supportive space to explore their emotions, navigate life transitions, and develop coping skills.

What can I expect in a therapy session?

During our first session, we will discuss the typical structure of a session, including current challenges, exploration of emotions and thoughts, and collaborative goal-setting.

How long will therapy take to show results?

During our first session, we will discuss the individualized nature of therapy and how the duration varies based on the client’s unique circumstances and goals.

Is everything I share confidential?

During our first session, I will provide information on confidentiality policies, ensuring clients understand the limits and exceptions to confidentiality.

How do I know if therapy is working for me?

We review goals, assess progress, discuss observable changes, and address therapeutic process concerns during our sessions.

Do I need therapy even if I don't have a specific mental health diagnosis?

I firmly believe that therapy is beneficial for various concerns, including personal growth, stress management, relationship issues, and general well-being, not just for diagnosed mental health conditions.

How often should I attend therapy sessions?

We will discuss recommended frequencies based on individual needs, goals, and the nature of the therapeutic process.

Can therapy be a long-term commitment?

We can address the potential for both short-term and long-term therapy, emphasizing the client’s autonomy in deciding the duration of their therapeutic journey.
